Artist and date

Family oral history indicates that the pastel was done by Vera Leichney, née Hamilton, Oscar Tiegs' sister in law, who was an artist.

However, the image is marked on its back "Lisa De Montfort", who was a British artist. Lisa De Montfort was known to do miniatures, and is known to have done miniatures of other Fellows of the Royal Society, for example, Edward Charles Dodds[1], and the appearance of Tiegs in the pastel would age him consistently with his visit to England in 1954 (Oscar Tiegs was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1944[2]).

The image here is a scanned copy provided by the holder of the original. The holder of the image came into possession of the image from their mother, who was one of Oscar Tiegs' sisters.
