Summary

Description
English: The ground and first excited states of 57Fe split into 2 and 4 energy levels, respectively, in a magnetic field. Transitions between these levels can be detected using Mossbauer spectroscopy. An Mossbauer absorption spectrum showing the 6 allowed transitions is shown.
