The image is of sufficient resolution for commentary and identification but lower resolution than the original. Copies made from it will be of inferior quality, unsuitable as artwork on pirate versions or other uses that would compete with the commercial purpose of the original work.

Main infobox. The image is used for identification in the context of critical commentary of the work for which it serves as a title screen. It makes a significant contribution to the user's understanding of the article, which could not practically be conveyed by words alone. The image is placed in the infobox at the top of the article discussing the work, to show the primary visual image associated with the work, and to help the user quickly identify the work, product or service and know they have found what they are looking for. Use for this purpose does not compete with the purposes of the original media, and in turn the marketing of the promoted item.

As a screenshot, the image is not replaceable by free content; any other image of the work would also be copyrighted, and any version that is not true to the original would be inadequate for identification or critical commentary.

1. No free equivalent exists that would effectively identify the article's subject.
2. The image does not in any way limit the ability of the copyright owners to market or sell their product.
3. The image is only used sparingly and is rendered in low resolution to avoid piracy.
4. The image has been published outside of Wikipedia, either as an optical disc format, media broadcast, website content or computer software.
5. The image meets Wikipedia's media-specific policy.
6. The image meets general Wikipedia content requirements and is encyclopedic.
7. The image is used in the article wiki-linked in the section title.
8. The image is significant in illustrating the subject of the article, facilitating critical commentary as it provides an immediate relevance to the reader more capably than the textual description alone.
9. The image is used in the article namespace.
10. The image has a brief description that identifies the image, and provides attribution to the copyright holder.
