English: Document is a declassified diplomatic cable sent by the U.S. Department of State to the American Embassy in Tel Aviv and the American Consulate General in Jerusalem containing press guidance for questions that might be asked concerning news reports that the Department of State and the Federal Bureau of Investigation had consented to Israeli government surveillance of an American Foreign Service Officer posted to Israel. The document denies that the U.S. agencies had either been asked to agree to or had in fact consented to any such surveillance.
