Summary

Description
English: Gabriel Guay, En l'absence du maître, painting exhibtited at the Paris Salon of 1877; reproduced as an etching in L'illustration: journal universel, issue number 1816, December 15 , 1877. p. 380. Location of original painting unknown. For contemporary reception, see p. 375 of the issue: "En l'absence du maître, tableau de M. Gabriel Guay.
