DescriptionCrossing the River Dove - geograph.org.uk - 451823.jpg
English: Crossing the River Dove. Designed by James Brindley, this aqueduct carries the Trent and Mersey Canal across the River Dove. Because only shallow arches could be built to allow for the depth of the canal, the length of the aqueduct had to provide for sufficient arches to allow for high flows during periods of flood.
