A thick haze of aerosols coves eastern China in this true-color MODIS image from November 9, 2001. Although there are many naturally occurring aerosols, this is China's most developed, industrialized region, and the aerosols are most likely pollution. Beneath the haze, the Yellow River can be seen running northeast and emptying into Bo-Hai Bay (upper right).
