Image title | A portion of the Texas Heroes Monument in Galveston, Texas. Philanthropist Henry Rosenberg contributed this statue to the citizens of Galveston as a memorial to the heroes of the Texas Revolution. A dedication ceremony on San Jacinto Day, April 21st, 1900, which featured a parade and ceremonies attended by Governer Joseph D. Sayers.
The bronze monument was created by Italian sculptor Louis Amateis. Decaying and in disrepair, the statue was restored in 1991. |
