Description |
English: This is a portrait of a Parisian Lady in everyday clothes and fashionable accessories. Her gold jewellery is inspired by historical ideals. The engraved medallion is a memento – a souvenir. Her hat is decorated with exotic feathers. The millinery fashion changed with every season and went completely wild in the late 1890s, when milliners began using entire birds as hat ornaments – a practice that threatened to exterminate rare species and prompted the founding of protest groups. |
