I found some old pictures while going through my computer today and came across these ....
This is a picture of a good friends car from 2006. It's a Ford Focus XR5T, the same as the Ford Focus ST found in Europe and the UK. Here in Australia it was badged as an 'XR', in line with Ford Australia's naming policy of badging sporty Ford's with the 'XR' badge.
At the same time you could also buy a Ford Fiesta XR4, Mondeo XR5T, Falcon XR6, XR6T and Falcon XR8.
The numbers represented the number of cylinders the car had, so 4, 5, 6 and 8 were the number of cylinder and if it had a 'T' at the end, then it was a Turbo engine.
Ford Australia will now switch to the 'ST' badging for it's sporty Ford's in Australia.
