In March 2024, several Republicans filed challenges to the Senate seat held by Democratic incumbent Mike Fanning, including Stubbs[2] and businessmen Tripp McCoy[3] and Tibi Czentye.[4] Stubbs won the Republican primary to face Fanning.[5]

Stubbs pledged to support term limits[6] and was endorsed by Americans for Prosperity - South Carolina.[7]

Fanning conceded to Stubbs after a close race which triggered an automatic recount.[8][9][10][11]
