I have this respectful request to whoever felt this article should be renamed.
As a practitioner in the field, very active with Polis since 2016, I would like to weigh in on why "wikisurvey" is the best term:
the strongest reason for "wiki survey" is because the academics who coined it over a decade aho (much before its actual usage in written/spoken word, in any practical sense), spelled it that way[1]
in the time since, the word has moved beyond academia, into social media spaces, conference talks, documentation of flagship projects, and think tank reports. In those spaces, the term has morphed into "wikisurvey"[2][3]
these tools are primarily a term spoken about online via text, not aloud. since #wikisurvey is the best hashtag for others to discover conversations about the tool, that has become the way it's used in practice (even beyond the social media context).[4]
The is a very new field, but has lots of building momentum as a tool of democratic renewal among democratic backslide (e.g., Polis software forks are right now quietly being funded by 5 national level governments, including 2 EU projects[5], nevermind civil society and well-funded blockchain groups running pilots). Practitioners of the term do not and will not be writing this as "wiki survey", but will continue to communicate about it as a "wikisurvey". I suggest this article align with that, as was recommended by the volunteer researcher who originally wrote this and helped Polis practitioners get this article on wikipedia.
