@BarntToust Love the article so far, and I hope that we can publish it the day Superman comes out. I'm going to see it opening day in theaters, and we can definitely work on the plot summary for the movie together. HadesTTW (he/him • talk) 03:05, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I also want to commend Barnt for their impeccable dedication to this draft. I don't believe this article will satisfy the notability guidelines immediately once the film releases as it may take some time to establish significant coverage of this portrayal to warrant separating this from the main comics Superman article. Always happy to see another editor eager to contribute to getting drafts fleshed out, though! Trailblazer101 (talk) 06:37, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
aww, thanks @HadesTTW! I await release so we can begin the plot prose together! My idea is definitely to put the plot information from Superman as it pertains to this Gunn / Corenswet iteration in the Appearances section, directly after "Superman explores the character's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his adoptive human family in Smallville, Kansas."
I'm planning to model the plot details of the DCU character articles similarly based off of the entries on another article in a different topic, the Characters of The Last of Us (TV series). Those entries are structured like -two or so powerful sentences that summarize the character, then after that a plot summary of the content that pertains directly to the character, and then finally the characterizing information and factual prose. Again, it's a plan, and it's going to need to be adapted a bit differently since it's going to be a character article for a franchise with different entries, but things'll all come together!
@Trailblazer101, I imagine that many editors will make a reasonable assumption; that DCU topic articles will inherit the WP:MCU Project consensuses. In this case, a reasonable assumption would be according to the guide of WP:MCUCHARACTERS—which provides that character articles can qualify if "The character has appeared in a film or television series in a titular or lead role"—that this article will qualify to just get published on release date. Now, my guess it that once they figure out this ain't the case, people will try to have the DCU articles be fostered in by the MCU consensus per a discussion, or they will just try to start specific discussions that establish pretty much the same consensus as the MCU articles. Maybe they'll claim WP:SILENTCONSENSUS about the DCU articles inheriting MCU task force consensus. What's your take?
Otherwise, given that we've already got a paragraph of coverage solely dedicated to Corenswet's Jewish heritage in the context of historical Superman from when the guy was first cast, a paragraph on public reaction to spoiler pics from Cleveland media and meta-analysis of it, and the fact that Superman is a cultural titan, I don't think it'll be too hard to find significant coverage to satisfy the first criteria of WP:NFILMCHAR at a time after the film releases. But, I ain't a crystal ball. Having said this, I'm sure the reaction from Jewish media publications alone will be strong enough to warrant a subsection on that specifically. Along with other general pop culture analysis, there's sure to be a trove of info even from trailers (watch out for Super Bowl LIX). It won't be July 11, but I'm sure it'll get to the point of the first criteria of NFILMCHAR sooner rather than later. Or not. Like I said, I'm not a crystal ball.
In the meantime, I'll be doing research on the reliability of those Jewish media publications on popular culture topics, so I'll know what to write about concerning this character. Take care, and happy editing! BarntToust20:35, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
