Linking to blog in external sources section?
[edit]While Working on first article/page for a friend, An automated filter has identified this edit as containing references to a blogging site.
Where we are wondering the relevance of citing as an external source where the subject of the article had a travel log (blog) to document an expedition that is now being adapted for a television docuseries. Is citing blog as external source inappropriate as the blog or website is owned by the subject of the article? Thriverr (talk) 14:17, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- The relevant policy is WP:BLOG which strongly discourages the use of blogs. The most common exception to this is when a person is being quoted as saying or writing something, and the place they said it is on their own blog. Also note that any article about a living or recently deceased person must satisfy WP:BLP.In general, blogs will not help the article subject pass notability requirements as they are not independent of the article subject. At the moment the article seems to fall quite far short of meeting notability requirements and you should look for reliable independent sources. Also noted from one of your edit summaries that you are declaring what looks like a conflict of interest as you have a relationship with the article subject. Thank you for being upfront about this. Please familiarize yourself with WP:COI as it appears to apply to your editing. Oblivy (talk) 15:29, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
