Notability

[edit]

Per my topic ban from XFD, I would like to address @CNMall41:'s concerns of notability. I feel the existing sources do establish notability as a long-term chain with locations in multiple states (WP:NCORP). Sourcing seems to be sparse on grocery chains, but I did find this as a starting point. (It also seems the stores in Iowa and Nebraska were not historically part of the same chain.) It looks like the Econo Foods name was not used before the 1980s, and the company history is a murky tangle with Tadych's and the other names, so I would not be opposed to a merger to SpartanNash. It is difficult for sure. The reference you provided is a routine announcement of a store closure (and opening). Unfortunately, it does not go into depth about Econofoods but I will gladly look through Newspapers.com and see if there is anything usable. --CNMall41 (talk) 04:52, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I found a lot of advertorials and coupons but digging through I found more. The only issue is I am not sure if anyone else would consider these in-depth enough. As you know, the threshold for company pages is quite high and I think all but one of these would be considered routine announcements. I wasn't aware you were topic banned so if you like I can list these in the AfD discussion and ask for an opinion at WikiProject Companies to see if others believe it is enough. I am all for consensus if things have changed but based on experience in AfD discussions with companies this may not be enough. Here is what I found 1, 2, 3 (supplied by you above), 4 (the only one I think would pass WP:CORPDEPTH), 5, 6, 7.--CNMall41 (talk) 05:12, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And, you are correct about sourcing being sparse in this space. I am looking through the category now and found Gristedes which is a mess. --CNMall41 (talk) 06:27, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
