Regarding article tags
[edit]@1292simon: re the tags you have placed on the article; could you please tell me why you believe this is written in a fan-like way, or why you don't believe Danny Gonzalez has notability? I have tried to use reliable sources for content, excluding those that can be cited as per WP:SELFPUB. Thanks! --Bangalamania (talk) 04:17, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Bangalamania. Phrases such as "garnered him millions of views", "disgraced 24-year-old Musical.ly star" read like subjective statements rather than a neutral encyclopaedic tone. Regarding the notability, I am concerned that many of the sources are of routine events or not WP:RS. Cheers, 1292simon (talk) 20:51, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply! I made a few copyedits to the article. --Bangalamania (talk) 20:58, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
Draft to Article
[edit]@Praxidicae: Explain why you moved Danny Gonzalez to Draft:Danny Gonzalez with reason "Undersourced" when article in its current form clearly (at least IMHO) meets WP:Reliable sources minimum for WP:NOTABILITY. It did not meet guidelines two months ago but has a lot more sources added - please recheck and if you disagree that the 23 references still count as "Undersourced" , explain why by pointing out at least 1/2 the sources. --Lefton4ya (talk) 19:25, 14 December 2020 (UTC)
- Because more than half of these sources are total and utter garbage, the rest are borderline unreliable and listicles. This needs a proper AFC review, not a fly by night page move into mainspace. Praxidicae (talk) 19:26, 14 December 2020 (UTC)
- Regarding the review, I think listing the Bangladeshi Daily Star newspaper as an unreliable source is because of it being mistaken for the UK tabloid of the same name, which is listed over at WP:RSP. I've messaged the author to see what the justification for that is. Plus, I think that the listings of YouTube as it is now is acceptable. --Bangalamania (talk) 23:47, 14 December 2020 (UTC)
- Even if that is true, the source itself doesn't discuss the subject in any depth whatsoever. Praxidicae (talk) 23:51, 14 December 2020 (UTC)

Apple Music as a source
[edit]Drmies added a cleanup template that I just removed. The template's reason read, " 'references' for singles are spam links". The references used were Apple Music links. Currently, there are no guidelines pertaining to the reliability of Apple Music. Also, how is Apple Music spam? If anyone finds any guidelines pertaining to Apple Music, reply and let me know, thanks. L33tm4n (talk) 23:40, 15 August 2021 (UTC)
- Apple Music is a paid service; the link is a commercial link. I don't know what "there are no guidelines" means: these are spamlinks. Binksternet, you've edited a few articles on music stuff--surely this is far beyond "referencing". And L33tm4n, when I removed all that stuff the first time and I asked "was this actually 'released'", that was a question about what "releasing" means, but really, if your only reference is to a paid service, and you have NO secondary sources, what possible reason could we have for listing it? WP:FART applies here: not everything that a notable person does is automatically noteworthy just because they did it.Chicago Rd Drmies (talk) 00:25, 16 August 2021 (UTC)
- The Apple Music term "single" doesn't necessarily mean that the song was released as a single, with copies sent to radio stations, etc. You can see how it works comparing Apple's Danny Gonzalez song list with Apple's Adele song list. Danny's list has almost every song called a single, which cannot be true. Adele's list has very few songs listed as singles but not her gigantic hit singles "Someone like You" and "Hello". So you can see that Apple's "single" label is not even remotely a reliable indicator of whether a song was released as a single. The Apple references are not needed here, and with so many used incorrectly, they amount to spamming. If a single was really released, it would stand as its own reference. Same as a book or LP or DVD—they are a published item establishing at the very least that they exist. So you don't really need Apple Music to help you say that a song exists. (You might use Apple Music to establish the exact day it was released.) Binksternet (talk) 00:56, 16 August 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks Binksternet--I learned something. But I still wonder what "release" means these days. Back in the old days, it was easy: when the physical 45s are put on the truck to be sold at Valkenberg or Wastora. Drmies (talk) 01:19, 16 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Drmies and @Binksternet: Maybe, but if you have the time to read the article for Cr1TiKaL, you'll see that it uses Apple Music as a source for each The Gentle Men single. The references haven't been removed (at least yet), so it's a possibility that Apple Music can be used as a reliable source for singles, but judging by your analysis, it might be best to use Spotify as a source. L33tm4n (talk) 15:09, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
- I don't think Cr1TiKaL has released any singles, either. A search for Cr1TiKaL singles comes up with nothing. Both Cr1TiKaL and Gonzalez should have their singles sections removed. Any particular songs that have been described by the media can be mentioned in prose. Binksternet (talk) 15:35, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's hardly a great article to use as a baseline... Drmies (talk) 15:35, 17 August 2021 (UTC)

Adding a "Not to be confused with" hat note
[edit]A hat note stating: "Not to be confused with Drew Gooden" might be useful to Wikipedia readers. The two have frequently become confused by people to the point that it has become a running joke between both Gooden and Gonzalez that they have both acknowledged. This is mostly because there content areas and fanbases overlap. See: https://www.newsweek.com/comedians-danny-gonzalez-drew-gooden-talk-tour-individuality-why-youtube-best-career-1457886 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8NHpvwS3sA. aaronneallucas (talk) 05:51, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
- Per Template:Distinguish, "The "distinguish" template produces a hatnote to point out to our readers the existence of one or more articles whose title(s) is, or are, similar to the page in question". It isn't appropriate to use it in the way you described. There's plenty of people that are often confused for each other (Amy Adams and Isla Fisher, for example), but we shouldn't tag all those articles. --Cerebral726 (talk) 14:54, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
- Exactly what I was thinking. The infobox section "associated acts" is there and has Drew Gooden listed in it. It seems to be the best solution to the issue right now. ― Levi_OPTalk 16:46, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

I would like to update the amount of subscribers Danny Gonzalez has. His main channel does not have 6.01 million subscribers, it has 6.04 million. His second channel (2 Danny 2 Furious) does not have 1.88 million subscribers, it has 1.92 million. His gaming channel (Danny GAMEzalez) does not have 399 thousand subscribers, it has 400 thousand. LazyNeighbours does not have 18.7 thousand subscribers, it has 18.8. TheLazyNeighbours does not have 6.73 thousand subscribers, it has 6.77 thousand. The total number of subscribers should not be 8.31 million, it should be 8.36 million.
I would also like to update the amount of views he has. His main channel does not have 1.30 billion views, it has 1.32 billion. His second channel (2 Danny 2 Furious) does not have 113.18 million views, it has 117.80 million. His gaming channel (Danny GAMEzalez) does not have 25.12 million views, it has 25.45 million. TheLazyNeighbours does not have 131.96 thousand views, it has 132.87 thousand. The total number of views should not be 1.44 billion, it should be 1.46 billion.
I would like to add nickisnotgreen (name: Nick Green) to associated acts.
I would like to take gaming out of his genre (under YouTube information) as he has stated that he will not be streaming his video games anymore. His twitch account does not have 415 thousand followers, it has 416 thousand. I-watch-too-much-youtube (talk) 17:29, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
