Zee Cohen-Sanchez is an American political strategist and entrepreneur, known as the founder and executive director of Sole Strategies, a woman owned and operated political consulting firm. Cohen-Sanchez specializes in grassroots campaigning, advocacy for marginalized communities, and supporting underrepresented candidates in local and state elections.[1][2]
Early life and education
[edit]Sanchez graduated from Wagner College with a BA in Anthology and Sociology. Later she dropped out of Graduate School to work full-time in politics.[2] She joined high-profile campaigns such as those of Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.[3][4][5]
Career
[edit]In 2009 Cohen-Sanchez moved to New York City and worked on several races before moving to Oregon in 2018. In 2020, Cohen-Sanchez founded Sole Strategies.[6] The organization emphasizes the importance of deep canvassing techniques to flip voters from red to blue, rather than traditional top-down consulting approaches.[7] The firm has worked on over 500 campaigns since 2020.[4][8]
Political philosophy
[edit]Cohen-Sanchez advocates that diverse perspectives enhance policy-making, promote inclusivity, and lead to more stable governments.[9][10] Through Sole Strategies, she has built an all-female team of political operatives and supports initiatives to elevate voices traditionally excluded from the political arena.[11]
Notable campaigns
[edit]Cohen-Sanchez and Sole Strategies have contributed to several high-profile political campaigns, including:
- Rep. Daniel Goldman & Pat Ryan (U.S. Congress)[12]
- Wengay Newton[13]
- Yusef Salaam (New York City Council Democratic nominee)[12]
- Daniel Carlino (City Council, Missoula, Montana)
