Syed Zafar Abbas Jafri (born 13 June, 1983) is a philanthropist from Karachi, known for his charitable work within the community in Pakistan through his organization JDC Welfare Organization (JDC).[1][2]
Abbas was one of the founding members of JDC in 2009 during the 2009 Karachi floods when he was a student. Since then, he has led the organization's multiple initiatives including free food distribution, education support, healthcare, old age homes and orphanages.[3][4]
Abbas has been a notable philanthropic figure in Pakistan and has amassed a lot of support from Pakistani citizens, particularly on social media where he raises awareness about various societal issues.[5]
On August 14, 2023, Arif Alvi, the president of Pakistan awarded Abbas with the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, the fourth highest civilian award in Pakistan. The formal ceremony is scheduled for Pakistan Day, March 23, 2024, where Abbas alongside 117 other honorees will receive the award.[6][7][8]
