Yoohanon Mar Theodosius is the current Eparch of the Eparchy of Muvattupuzha . He was installed as the 3rd Bishop of the Eparchy on June 12 2019.[1]
Early Life and Education
[edit]Yoohanon Mar Theodosius was born John Kochuthundil on April 8, 1959, in Pathanamthitta, Kerala . He began his priestly training at St. Aloysius Minor Seminary in Trivandrum and later completed his philosophical and theological studies at St. Joseph's Pontifical Seminary in Alwaye.[2]
Ministry
[edit]He became a priest for the Archieparchy of Trivandrum on December 22, 1985, ordained by Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios. He earned his Licentiate and Doctorate in Oriental Canon Law from the Pontifical Oriental Institute in Rome, Italy, and a Diploma in Priestly Formation from Sophia in Thailand. He has held various positions alongside his priestly ministry including Secretary to Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios,[3] Archbishop of Trivandrum, Rector of St. Aloysius Minor Seminary in Trivandrum, the inaugural Rector of St. Mary Queen of Peace Basilica in Palayam, Trivandrum, Chancellor of the Major Archieparchy of Trivandrum, Rector of St. Mary's Malankara Major Seminary in Trivandrum, and served as Vicar General & Chancellor for both the Major Archieparchy of Trivandrum and the Eparchy of Gurgaon (New Delhi).[4]
Episcopacy
[edit]On Aug. 5, 2017, he was elected Bishop of the Curia of the Archieparchy of Trivandrum.[5] He was consecrated by the Catholicos of the Syro Malankara Church Baselios Cleemis, on September 21, 2017 at Adoor. He was also appointed as apostolic visitor to Europe and Oceania.[6] On the April 10, 2018 he was appointed coadjutor Bishop of the Eparchy of Muvattupuzha.[7][8] He was Installed as the 3rd Eparch of the Eparchy of Muvattupuzha on June 12 2019 at St. Joseph's Cathedral Muvattupuzha[1][9]
