Yodee (born April 28, 1973) is a South African. poet, songwriter, librettist, and Christian rap artist known as Moses A. Lefember.[1]

Biography

[edit]

Moses Lefember hails from Westenburg, Polokwane, Limpopo Province, South Africa.

Moses and his sister, Lettie, were raised singlehandedly by their mother, Girly Mary Lefember.

In 1990, Moses graduated from Westenburg Secondary School[2].

In the following year, he joined the South African Police Service, where he worked for over two decades.[3]

Career

[edit]

Writing poetry since the age of thirteen years, gifted Moses Lefember the opportunity to be discovered by the Poetry Institute Of Africa,[4] Unique Publications, who published his poems in five of their anthologies[5].

Steered onwards by a devout conviction to positively motivate the youth, Moses Lefember, started writing Christian Rap songs during the early 2000s.

He was then gifted the opportunity to perform his musical works at Danger Zone[6] - Youth Crusades alongside, Rev. L.P. Sinclair[7], as the visionary and host of the event.

Moses Lefember introduced himself during these performances as MC Yodee and later on shortened his artist name to Yodee[8].

Moses Lefember refers to his genre type of music as poetic[9] spiritual[10] rap.

Yodee went on to independently release his debut Christian Rap album - Africa's Redemption[11] through Cdbaby[12] for digital distribution in 2010 and physical distribution in 2011.

Following directly after the highly successful 2010 Soccer World Cup tournament in South Africa was the INAS World Football Championship 2010[13], held at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane, Limpopo Province, South Africa.

Yodee was granted artistic liberty to write his own rap lyrics for the welcoming song, E'sale Nako[14] (meaning - There's still time) in collaboration with artists from Limpopo Province that performed together during the opening ceremony[15].

On November 17, 2017, Yodee, together with his firstborn son, "Lavmore" Leric Lefember[16] and featuring Bonsatchia Harmse[17], released a single called GOD Restores Darkened Spirits, for digital distribution through Cdbaby

On October 25, 2024 Yodee collaborated again with, Leric Lefember[18], and his second born son, Larson[19] Lefember, on a single with a libretto visual storyline titled, 24O Robb-Itt (The Devil's End)[20] for digital distribution through Cdbaby.

The song also features Angelique[21] Titus and Landre[22] Sinclair, who is the firstborn son of Lusandra M. Sinclair.

Moses Lefember, otherwise known as Yodee, married his soul mate, Tharcha Lefember[23], on September 16, 1995, in Barberton, Mpumalanga Province.

They currently reside in Polokwane, Limpopo Province, South Africa, together with their two sons.
