Xu Wenrong (simplified Chinese:徐文荣;traditional Chinese: 徐文榮, born 1935) is a Chinese businessman and the founder of Hengdian Group. The former president and chairman of the conglomerate is now retired[1] and was one of China's first billionaires.[2]
Early life
[edit]Xu Wenrong was born in Dongyang, Zhejiang in 1935. He left school when he was 13 years old.[3]
Career
[edit]In 1975, Xu set up his first silk factory. After that, he began making components for electronics, such as semiconductors and circuit boards.[1]
In 1996, Xu founded Hengdian World Studios, one of the largest film studios in the world.[1]
