Witchy Pretty Cure!! Mirai Days,[1][a] also known as Maho Girls PreCure!! Mirai Days, is an upcoming Japanese anime television series based on the Pretty Cure franchise created by Izumi Todo, and it is a sequel to Witchy Pretty Cure!, which originally aired between 2016 to 2017. The series is directed by Takayuki Hamana at both Toei Animation and Studio Deen, written by Isao Murayama, character designed by Asami Sodeyama from original character concept by Emiko Miyamoto and music composed by Hiroshi Takaki. It will air on ANN's Animazing!!! programming block on January 11, 2025.[2]
Story
[edit]Years after the defeat of Deusmaust of the Never Ending Chaos, Mirai, Liko, Ha-chan and Mofurun have reunited. The three are currently achieving their dreams from respective worlds, with Mirai as a university student with Mofurun at her side, Liko as a teacher in the magical world, and Ha-chan watches the world from afar. However, a new disaster appears and threatens both worlds, and Mirai and Liko reunite and transform into Pretty Cures again to fend off the mysterious new enemy.
Characters
[edit]- Mirai Asahina (朝日奈 みらい, Asahina Mirai) / Cure Miracle (キュアミラクル, Kyua Mirakuru)
- Voiced by: Rie Takahashi[3]
- A 20 year-old who lives in a No Magic Realm (ナシマホウ界, Nashimahō Kai), and a university student. She also works as a "Magical Girl" (魔法ガール, Mahō Gāru) to secretly assist people in need with magic. She becomes Cure Miracle again as the new enemy appears.
- Liko Izayoi (十六夜 リコ, Izayoi Riko) / Cure Magical (キュアマジカル, Kyua Majikaru)
- Voiced by: Yui Horie[3]
- A 19 year-old who lives in a Magical World (魔法界, Mahō Kai), a skilled magician and a teacher at the Magic School (魔法学校, Mahō Gakko). She becomes Cure Magical again as the new enemy appears.
- Kotoha Hanami (花海 ことは, Hanami Kotoha) / Cure Felice (キュアフェリーチェ, Kyua Ferīche)
- Voiced by: Saori Hayami[3]
- A girl who grew up as a small fairy residing in a Linkle Smartbook, and a reincarnation of Mother Rapapa. She currently watches the world from afar.
- Mofurun (モフルン, Mofurun)
- Voiced by: Ayaka Saitō[3]
- A stuffed teddy bear given to Mirai by her grandmother when she was a child. After Mirai and Liko's first transformed into Pretty Cures, Mofurun comes to life and serves as their transformation device. She currently assist Mirai's "Magical Girl" activities.
- Hisui (ひすい, Hisui)
- Voiced by: Saori Hayami[4]
- A mysterious girl that appeared in front of Mirai and Liko.
- Airu (アイル, Airu)
- Voiced by: Toshiyuki Toyonaga[5]
- A mysterious man that opposes Mirai and Liko. His true motives are unknown.
Production
[edit]In March 2023, it was announced that Witchy Pretty Cure! will recieve a sequel,[6] and will consist of 12 episodes on ANN's Animazing!!! programming block.[7] In May 2024, the title of the sequel series was revealed, along with its release date.[2] In June of the same month, it was announced that the main cast members: Rie Takahashi, Yui Horie, Saori Hayami and Ayaka Saitō will return to voice their respective characters.[3] In August 2024, it was announced that Takayuki Hamana, whom previously directed Power of Hope: PreCure Full Bloom (2023), will direct the series at both Toei Animation and Studio Deen, and character designed by Asami Sodeyama from original character concept by Emiko Miyamoto, while Isao Murayama and Hiroshi Takaki will return to oversee the series' scripts and compose the music from the first series respectively.[8][9] In November 2024, it was announced that Saori Hayami will also voice a new character named Hisui,[4] and Toshiyuki Toyonaga was cast as new character named Airu the following month.[5]
The opening theme song is "Dokkin Witchy Pretty Cure!! Part 3: Mirai Days" (Dokkin - 魔法つかいプリキュア!!Part3~MIRAI DAYS~, Dokkin - Mahōtsukai Purikyua!! Pāto Surī Mirai Daisu), sung by Rie Kitagawa,[8] while the ending theme song is "Miraculous Link" (キセキラリンク, Kisekirarinku) by three respective voice actresses.[4]
