William Omoreniye (born January 10, 2004) is a Canadian soccer player who plays for Western Suburbs in the New Zealand Central League.
Early life
[edit]Omoreniye joined the Calgary Foothills youth program in 2016.[1] In 2022, he played with the Cavalry FC U20 in the Alberta Major Soccer League.[2] He also represented Team Alberta at the 2022 Canada Summer Games.[2]
University career
[edit]In 2022, Omoreniye began attending the University of Calgary, where he played for the men's soccer team. He made his debut on August 27, 2022 against the Alberta Golden Bears.[3] He scored his first goal on September 10 against the Saskatchewan Huskies.[3] On October 22, he scored a brace against the MacEwan Griffins.[4] At the end of the season he was named to the Canada West All-Rookie Team and the U Sports All-Rookie Team.[5][6] On October 14, 2023, he scored a brace in a 4-4 draw against the MacEwan Griffins.[7]
Club career
[edit]At the 2023 CPL-U Sports Draft, Omoreniye was selected in the first round (seventh overall) by Cavalry FC.[8][9] In April 2023, he signed a developmental contract with the club.[10]
In 2024, he joined New Zealand Central League club Western Suburbs FC, via their partnership with Olé Football Academy.[11]
