Weiler is a village and suburb of the town of Sinsheim, located in the district of Rhein-Neckar-Kreis in the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. As of December 2020, the population of the village was 1,919.

History
[edit]The area around Sinsheim, including Weiler, was first settled around 700,000 years ago by Homo heidelbergensis. The village is home to several historical sites, including the Evangelical Church and the Catholic Church of the Holy Family. The Catholic Church was originally built in 1908, destroyed by fire in 1984, and rebuilt by 1985.[1] Nearby is the medieval castle Burg Steinsberg, which was first mentioned in 1109.[2]
Geography
[edit]Weiler is situated at an elevation of 266 meters (873 feet) above sea level. It lies in the northern part of Baden-Württemberg and is part of the Kraichgau region, known for its rolling hills and vineyards.
Economy
[edit]The economy of Weiler is largely influenced by its proximity to Sinsheim and the greater Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region, with local businesses and agriculture playing key roles.
