Synopsis

[edit]

The Apprentice's Quest

[edit]

Alderpaw, medicine cat apprentice (healer-in-training) of ThunderClan, goes on a quest to find the long-lost fifth Clan, SkyClan. In doing so, he discovers that SkyClan has been chased out of their faraway home by a group of outsiders (rogues) called the Kin. On his way back to ThunderClan, he discovers two abandoned kittens, Twigkit and Violetkit. Twigkit is taken in by ThunderClan, and Violetkit is taken in by ShadowClan. Unbeknownst to Alderpaw, the rogues which drove out SkyClan have followed him.

Thunder and Shadow

[edit]

Twigkit and Violetkit begin to settle into their new Clans. Violetkit makes friends with a ShadowClan apprentice named Needlepaw. Unrest between the young and old cats of ShadowClan is growing, and several of ShadowClan's apprentices, including Needlepaw and Violetkit, leave ShadowClan to join the Kin, led by a cat named Darktail. Eventually, these rogues attack ShadowClan and take over, driving out its leader, Rowanstar, and two senior warriors, Tawnypelt and Tigerheart, who take refuge in ThunderClan.

Shattered Sky

[edit]

ThunderClan, WindClan, and RiverClan attack the Kin, but are defeated when WindClan's leader, Onestar, panics and calls for his warriors to retreat without explanation. Onestar closes WindClan's borders and refuses to speak to any cat outside of his Clan. The Kin attack RiverClan, and succeed in taking over RiverClan as well. RiverClan's leader, Mistystar, and a few senior warriors escape to ThunderClan. Alderpaw, now Alderheart, comes up with a plan to poison the leaders of the Kin to allow the RiverClan and ShadowClan warriors to escape. This plan is put into action by Violetkit and Needlepaw, now Violetpaw and Needletail. The plan fails, and Darktail drowns Needletail, while Violetpaw escapes to ThunderClan. The prisoners on RiverClan territory rise up against the Kin, and drive them out of their territory. Several cats visit WindClan and ask Onestar to help in driving the Kin out of ShadowClan territory, but Onestar refuses, revealing that Darktail is his son whom he rejected many years ago. Meanwhile, Twigkit, now Twigpaw, leaves to search for SkyClan, finds them, and brings them to the land shared by the rest of the Clans. In a culminating battle, Onestar and Darktail battle to the death, and the rest of the Kin is driven out of ShadowClan's territory.

Darkest Night

[edit]

SkyClan is given part of ShadowClan's territory, as ShadowClan is smaller due to the amount of cats who died or went missing during its occupation by the Kin. Violetpaw and Twigpaw join SkyClan to be with their long-lost father, the deputy (second-in-command) of SkyClan, Hawkwing. A patrol is led to search for missing SkyClan cats, and a few are found and brought back to SkyClan. A cat named Tree, who can see ghosts, also joins SkyClan. Rowanstar announces the sudden disbanding of ShadowClan, much to his warriors' dismay, and ShadowClan merges with SkyClan. Leafstar, leader of SkyClan, agrees to make Violetpaw and Twigpaw warriors, and while Violetpaw accepts and takes on the name Violetshine, Twigpaw declines this offer and returns to ThunderClan.

River of Fire

[edit]

Leafstar is struggling to lead SkyClan, as the former ShadowClan warriors are not integrating into SkyClan well. Tree becomes the mediator of SkyClan, and grows close to Violetshine. A brief fire occurs in RiverClan territory. A former ShadowClan warrior, Sleekwhisker, takes Tawnypelt and several SkyClan kits hostage with the help of several cats from the Kin. The kits and Tawnypelt are rescued, but Rowanstar, now Rowanclaw, dies while saving them. Tigerheart takes on the name Tigerstar and reforms ShadowClan.

The Raging Storm

[edit]

Tigerstar aims to take back SkyClan's territory, as it was once ShadowClan territory. This causes several battles between the two Clans, one of which culminates in Juniperclaw, ShadowClan's deputy, poisoning SkyClan's food. SkyClan tries to leave the other Clans and return to their old territory far away, but a flood stops them from doing so. During this flood, SkyClan's camp is damaged, and a kit is swept away. Juniperclaw drowns while saving this kit. In the aftermath of the flood, SkyClan decides to stay with the other Clans, and all five Clans agree to rework their borders to fit each Clan.
