Main Attractions
[edit]Main Attractions in Warigaon Newada
Warigaon Newada is a rural village in Uttar Pradesh, India that does not appear to have any major tourist attractions. As a typical village, it likely has the following attractions:
- Local markets and bazaars: where villagers buy and sell agricultural produce, handicrafts, and everyday goods.
- Religious sites: like temples or mosques that are important to the local community.
- Scenic rural landscapes with fields, ponds, and greenery that provide a peaceful getaway from urban areas.
- Cultural events and festivals celebrated by the village throughout the year.
However, the village's remoteness and lack of documentation make it difficult to identify any specific attractions. The nearest town of Mariahu, about 5 km away, may have more amenities and points of interest for visitors.
Sheetla Chaukiya Dham
[edit]Sheetla Chaukia Dham
The Sheetla Chaukia Dham is an ancient temple complex located in Chowkiya, Panchhatiya, Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh, India. The main temple is dedicated to Goddess Shitala, who is believed to be an incarnation of the Divine Mother.
History
The temple's history dates back to the era of Hindu kings, when the Ahir rulers governed Jaunpur. It is believed that either the Yadavs or the Bhars, who were non-Aryans, built the temple as a shrine to their clan deity. However, based on the Bhars' predilections, it seems more likely that the Bhars constructed the temple[Source].[1].
The Bhars held power in Jaunpur and worshipped Shiva and Shakti. It is thought that the Devi was originally installed on a raised platform or 'chaukiya', which is how she came to be known as Chaukia Devi[2].
Architecture and Significance
The temple complex contains the main Shitala Devi temple along with other shrines to local deities. There is also a pond within the premises[3]
The temple is highly revered by locals, who believe it is necessary to seek the blessings of Mata Sheetla before leaving the district for safety and well-being[3]. A large crowd gathers at the temple during the Navratri festival.
An ancient Neem tree, believed to be over 300 years old, stands in the temple compound.
