Born on February 22, 1954, in village Faguram of Sakti district, Dr. Vinod Kumar Verma is a deeply sensitive storyteller from the land of Chhattisgarh. His nationally acclaimed story 'Machhuare Ki Ladki' (The Fisherman's Daughter) is included in the MA (Hindi) curriculum of Bastar University [2]. Set against the backdrop of the natural world, this story is unmatched in terms of its 'katha shaili' (narrative style). He worked as an agricultural scientist at Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya Raipur (Chhattisgarh) from 1980 to 2019, when he retired from his teaching position. However, he gained fame for his work on grammar books in Hindi and Chhattisgarhi literature.
