Vingst is an eastern district of Cologne in the Kalk district on the right bank of the Rhine.
History
[edit]Vingst was first mentioned in a deed of gift from Cologne Archbishop Heribert to Deutz Abbey in 1003 as "Vinhem". However, the origins of today's Cologne district could go back even further. The derivation of the name from the Latin word "vinitor" (vintner) is probable.[1]
