Value World is an American thrift store chain with locations in both Cleveland, Ohio and Detroit, Michigan. It is a for profit, family-owned business[1] and purchases the entirety of its inventory. Items are sourced from a variety of sources, including other retailers, recycling programs and donation programs that support non-profit organizations. Value World operates thirteen locations in total[1]; ten in Metro Detroit and three in Greater Cleveland[2]. Second-hand clothing, shoes, accessories, and home goods represent the bulk of both their inventory and sales.
History
[edit]Value World was founded in 1955 when it bought its first thrift store in Cleveland, Ohio. In Michigan, Value World was known as Value Village until 2001.[3] Additionally, Value World claims it has helped nonprofit organizations raise $50,000,000 or more since its founding.[4]
