Valerie Wilms is a retired German politician (previously Alliance 90/The Greens; unaffiliated since 2023). She was member of the Bundestag

Biography

Education and Career

Wilms was born on 22 January 1954 in Hannover. After her Abitur, she studied engineering and got her Diploma in 1977. In 1981 she got her Doctorate.[1]

From 1981 to 1983, Wilms worked as an engineer for construction in Hamburg. From 1983 to 2006 she was a technical supervisor at the Berufsgenossenschaft Bahnen. From 2004, she lectured at the Dresden University of Applied Sciences and additionally works as a freelance author since 2006.[1]

Political Work

  • Wilms joined the Green Party in 2005[1]
  • since 2006 spokesperson for the state working group on energy of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen Schleswig-Holstein; [1]
  • 2007 to 2008 spokesperson for the Pinneberg district executive of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen; [1]
  • since 2008 spokesperson for the federal working group on energy of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen; [1]
  • since 2008 member of the city council of the town of Wedel and deputy mayor of the town of Wedel. [1]
  • since 2008 member of the Pinneberg district council and chairwoman of the committee for environment, safety and order; [1]

Private Life

Wilms is married and has two children.[1]
