Prof. Dr. Dr. Vânia Gomes Zuin Zeidler (*1971 in Brazil) is a luso-brazilian Full Professor of Sustainable Chemistry of Renewable Organic Resources at the Institute of Sustainable Chemistry at Leuphana University of Lüneburg (Germany)[1]. Before joining Leuphana University, Prof. Zuin Zeidler was a Professor at the Department of Chemistry at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), Brazil[2]. Prof. Zuin Zeidler’s research focuses on Green and Sustainable Analytical Chemistry and Chemistry Education, with a strong emphasis on the development of innovative analytical methods for the extraction and analysis of bioactive organic compounds from agro-industrial residues [3],[4]

Education

[edit]

Zuin Zeidler earned her Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry (1989–1993) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the University of São Paulo (USP), where she also completed a Master's (1994–1997) and PhD (1997–2001) in Analytical Chemistry. She later obtained a second PhD in Education (2006–2010), focusing on sustainability and teacher training. Her postdoctoral research includes fellowships at USP, the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research in Germany, and the Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence at the University of York, England, with a focus on Green Chemistry[5].

Academic Career

[edit]

Prof. Dr. Dr. Zuin Zeidler is currently a Full Professor of Sustainable Chemistry of Renewable Organic Resources at the Institute of Sustainable Chemistry, Leuphana University, Germany (since 2022)[6]. Previously, she held the position of Professor at the Department of Chemistry at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), Brazil, from 2008 to 2023, and was a Visiting Professor at the Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence, University of York, UK, from 2013 to 2023[7]. She also co-founded and coordinated the Green Chemistry Section of the Brazilian Chemical Society (SBQ)[8] and was President of the Humboldt Club of Brazil from 2015 to 2017, where she continues as a board member[9]. In 2023 she was appointed as an 'Expert Voice' on the journal Science, from the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), where she contributed publishing about Sustainable Chemistry[10], [11].
