Govt. Joybangla College, Khulna is a higher secondary level educational institution in Bangladesh, located in the divisional headquarters of Khulna. Former name Khulna Government College.[1]
History
[edit]Established as an educational institution for business education, this institution was established in 1968 and is the only government-run institution in the greater Khulna region. Later, the name of the college was changed from Khulna Govt College to Govt. Joybangla College, Khulna' through a notification issued by the Ministry of Education on 16 September 2019. According to the directives of the National Education Commission in 1959, the then government in the 16 district headquarters of East Pakistan 'Govt. "Commercial Institute" was decided to be set up and consequently with the financial and technical support of USAID, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Faridpur, Chittagong, Feni, Comilla, Khulna, Jessore, Kushtia, Rajshahi, Dinajpur, Rangpur, Bogra, Pabna. These commercial institutes were established between 1965 and 1967 in the district towns of Barisal and Sylhet.[2]
Activities
[edit]This institution is run under the Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Jessore. As only the 11th-12th standard education programs are in operation, the students' studies are disrupted. Science, humanities and business education are three group-based classes held regularly. GPA 4.00 is the admission qualification in this college. Admission eligibility is determined on the basis of SSC exam results. Apart from giving lessons, activities such as co-education, competition, BNCC, science club etc. are running.[3]
