The animated Powerpuff Girls series is an upcoming animated superhero series, sequel to the 1998-2005 series of the same name. The series will be created by Craig McCracken, creator of the original show, and produced by Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, Cartoon Network Studios, and Warner Bros. Animation.[1]
Production
[edit]Development
[edit]A new series based on The Powerpuff Girls was first announced on July 18, 2022. Original series creator Craig McCracken was set to create the series, after not being involved in the 2016 reboot. Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe (HBSE) is producing the series.[1] In October 2022, McCracken revealed the series hasn't been green-light yet, with the production crew still developing ideas for the pilot episode.[2] He also revealed there isn't a network set yet to distribute the series; McCracken noted the network selected would ultimateky influence the restrictions placed for the show.[3] McCracken also noted the crew hasn't determined which other characters from previous Powerpuff Girls media would appear in the series.[2]
Writing
[edit]The series will reportedly be set in the same continuity as the original show, with the series expanding the original's universe as the Powerpuff Girls fight familiar and new enemies.[4]
Animation
[edit]For the reboot, McCracken plans to use character designs similar to those used in the original series, with slight changes regarding "consistency of scale and proportion".[5]
