Umamaheshwar S. is an author of historical fiction Roving Eyes - Love, Lust and Battles of Indian Royalty[1] and a senior Indian journalist[2] from Hyderabad. He writes on economic policy for Deccan Chronicle[3], one of the largely circulated English newspaper in India. The author uses Mahesh S as his pen name for his literary pursuits, while using S. Umamaheshwar as a byline for his articles in Deccan Chronicle.

Umamaheshwar[4] is currently working as the business editor at Deccan Chronicle in Hyderabad. He has been working with this newspaper since 2002. During his employment with Deccan Chronicle, he wrote on several topics such as business, investment, banking, personal finance, and economic policy. He interviewed several industry captains and policy makers. He also contributes for the newspaper's editorial opinions. He also won Shriram Sanlam Award for Excellence in Financial Journalism in 2016.[5]

He authored his first book Roving Eyes - Love, Lust and Battles of Indian Royalty in 2021. The book has 12 fictionalized accounts of true stories of kings and queens or prince or princess, whose affairs of heart, brought them to the brink of annihilation. His second book will be an important emperor, whose never got his due recognition in history as his rivals erased almost all traces of him from historical accounts. [6][7][8] [9]
