Draft:Ulike
Ulike is a Chinese beauty technology company established in 2013, specializing in the development and manufacturing of pulsed light hair removal devices. The company has expanded its operations into the European market and has been recognized by Euromonitor International.[1][2]
The company reports having over five million users and holds 300 global patents. Its Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) devices are approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).[3][4][5][6] Ulike has established a subsidiary brand known as Jmoon.[7]
History
[edit]Ulike was established in 2013 in China, with a focus on creating pulsed light hair removal products. The company holds a significant position in China's home-used IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) market.[8][9] The company operates two major research and development facilities, located in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China, and Seoul, South Korea.[10] The company has set up its European headquarters in Paris and is constructing a European team to support its growth.[11][12][13][14] Ulike's European strategy includes the launch of a French platform and the introduction of new products, such as the anti-aging machine Gemo.[15][16][17] The company reported an 80% increase over the period from 2021 to 2023, with a turnover of €770 million in 2022.[18] Ulike was featured in a segment discussing permanent hair removal technologies on the January 28, 2024, episode of 'Télématin' on France 2. [19]
Ulike has appointed Gaëlle Bouvier as the Communication Director for Europe.[20] Additionally, Ulike has been a sponsor for the Miss France 2024 competition.[20][21][22][23] Ulike plans to open its first physical stores in Malaysia in 2024.[24]
Products
[edit]Ulike offers pulsed light hair removal devices, including the Air 2 and Air 3 IPL machines. [25][26][27][28] Independent studies and user feedback have indicated that the Ulike Air 2 IPL hair removal device may not be recommended for use on dark skin and may also not be suitable for use on white or light-colored hair.[29] Simultaneously, research reports have indicated that there is noise present during the operation of Ulike's machine.[30] Sensitive-skinned users should approach these devices cautiously.[31] Some users have reported a slight warming of the device during use.[32]
