UKLASH (/juː keɪ læʃ/: yuu-kay-lash) is a British beauty brand that specialises in products aimed at promoting the growth of eyelashes, eyebrows, and hair.[1] The brand is known for its cruelty-free and vegan-friendly formulations, which focus on enhancing natural beauty through non-invasive methods.[2]

UKLASH has gained popularity for its range of serums designed to be safe, easy to use, and affordable. The brand's products are available in over 118 countries, reflecting its significant presence in the global beauty market.[3]

History

[edit]

UKLASH was founded by Nima Pourian in London in 2019.[4] The company's initial product was an eyelash serum, developed as a natural alternative to artificial lash extensions or cosmetic enhancements.[5] Following its early success on online platforms and social media, UKLASH expanded its product offerings to include eyebrow and hair growth serums, along with additional cosmetic products for lashes, lips, brows, and hair.[6][7]

UKLASH’s growth has been aligned with a wider industry trend where consumers seek products that enhance features without the use of harsh chemicals or invasive procedures.[8]

Products

[edit]

UKLASH's product line primarily focuses on serums that promote growth for eyelashes, eyebrows, and hair. Its flagship product, the UKLASH Eyelash Serum, is formulated to promote fuller, longer lashes and has garnered over 80,000 five-star reviews since its inception, with celebrity fans including Molly-Mae Hague and Sophie Habboo. Other notable fans of the brand include author, Roxie Nafousi, and NHS GP Doctor and Medical Educator, Dr. Raj Arora, both of whom attended the brand's lash serum launch event in June 2024.[9][10]

In 2021, UKLASH introduced additional products including a Hair Growth Serum, Headband, Volume Boost Mascara, and Eyelash Curler.

In 2022, the brand expanded into skincare with products such as Micellar Water and Hydra-Gel Eye Patches and also introduced a Lash Separator.[11]

In July 2023, the brand enhanced its mascara range with the launch of the Lengthening Mascara. In August 2023, the Brow Pencil, Brow Pomade, Brow Gel Sculpt, and Hair Growth Serum were introduced, along with the Lash Guard & Comb set.[12]

In May 2024, the Hair Growth Serum was relaunched with updated ingredients and a new applicator, which reportedly sold out within four days.[13] A full hair care line followed in September 2024, including Growth Shampoo, Conditioner, Hair Vitamins, and a Repair Mask.

In July 2024, UKLASH entered the lip care category with the release of a Plumping Lip Gloss.[14]

Ingredients, formulation, and research development

[edit]

UKLASH invests in research to develop safe beauty solutions and collaborates with biologists and trichologists, including brand ambassador Hannah Gabaordi, to formulate products using ingredients such as Biotin, Vitamin E, and Coconut Oil.[15]

The original UKLASH Eyelash and Eyebrow Serums contain a low concentration of Prostaglandin Analogue, an ingredient associated with eyelash growth enhancement.[16] Prostaglandin Analogues are known to act on the anagen phase of the eyelash growth cycle, promoting length and melanin content to achieve a darker, fuller appearance.[17]

UKLASH offers three eyelash serums: the original Eyelash Serum, the Sensitive Eyelash Serum, and the Complex Peptide Eyelash Serum, the last of which is said to be the most sophisticated peptide-based serum on the market.[18][19][20]

Stockists

[edit]

UKLASH products are distributed in over 118 countries, with its Eyelash Serum reportedly selling every 30 seconds.[21]

In April 2023, UKLASH entered over 1,300 Boots stores following its success with stockists such as Beauty Bay, where it is the top-performing brand across all categories, and in Debenhams, QVC, and Sephora, where it ranks as the best-selling brand in the eye makeup category.[22] UKLASH products are also available at Harrods, Selfridges, and ASOS.

Future expansion

[edit]

Since its debut in 2019, UKLASH has reportedly sold over 5 million bottles of its Eyelash Serum and reported a 55% year-on-year growth from 2020 to 2024.[23]

The brand has noted international growth, with the UK and USA as the fastest-growing markets, followed by Australia, Canada, and Ireland.[24] UKLASH has also announced plans to expand its product range to serve a broader consumer base.[25]

Philanthropic work

[edit]

UKLASH has demonstrated its commitment to social responsibility through its partnership with the cancer charity, Look Good Feel Better. As part of this collaboration, UKLASH was the main sponsor of the charity’s annual S.W.A.L.K. (Supporting Women Affected by Cancer) charity walk in Sussex, raising funds for cancer patients to improve their self-esteem during treatment.[26]

In October 2024, UKLASH hosted a special event for 11 beneficiaries of Look Good Feel Better, where celebrity makeup artist Emily Wood led a brow-drawing masterclass, teaching attendees how to create natural brows during cancer treatment. Additionally, Dr. Raj Arora, an NHS GP and medical educator, provided valuable advice on caring for skin and hair during cancer therapy. This event was designed to empower and uplift individuals undergoing treatment, aligning with UKLASH’s mission to enhance natural beauty and boost confidence.[27]
