From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

TruthIn App is a consumer-focused mobile application developed by NatFirst Pvt. Ltd. It functions as a barcode scanner that provides users with insights into the nutritional and ingredient information of packaged food, cosmetics, and personal care products. The app is currently available in India and is designed to help users make healthier and more informed decisions based on their dietary preferences, health conditions, and ingredient preferences.

Overview

[edit]

The TruthIn App allows users to scan barcodes on food and personal care products or search for them by name. The app provides detailed information regarding the product’s ingredients, nutritional value, and potential allergens. It also includes a section for cosmetics and personal care products, which is currently in early access.

Features

Dr. Sunitha Premalatha and Dr. Manjula Anagani, a Padma Shri awardee[1], are part of the app's medical advisory board.
  • MatchMeter: The app includes a MatchMeter feature, which assesses how well different serving sizes of food products align with a user's individual dietary requirements. This feature is designed to offer personalized insights based on the user’s health goals.
  • Filter Tags: Users can filter products according to dietary needs and preferences, such as dietary lifestyles (e.g., vegan or vegetarian), nutrients, and allergens.
  • Shopping Cart Insights: The app provides insights into the items users add to their cart, offering feedback on the nutritional and ingredient profile of products in real-time.
