ABOUT Trevor Browning (b. June 6th, 1998) is an American theatre director, film director, actor, screenwriter, and playwright from Bedford, Kentucky.
In 2023, Browning co-founded Second-Hand Henry Films with Chicago-based screenwriter and playwright Kero C. Dylan and Miki Lustenberg.
Browning is most known for his theatrical direction, most notably in the theatre communities of Savannah, GA and Cincinnati, OH. His feature film debut, People Eater, is currently in pre-production through Second-Hand Henry Films.
EDUCATION:
Browning is an alumni of Northern Kentucky University, where he received his BFA Focus in Acting. While there, he worked extensively in the Theatre Programs blackbox lab, The Henry Konstantinow Theatre. He received his Performing Arts MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2023.
CAREER:
While studying in Northern Kentucky, Browning performed as an actor local to Cincinnati: most notably at The KNOW Theatre of Cincinnati, The Carnegie, and The Cincinnati Fringe Festival. Browning wrote his first play, Goodbye Babylon, in 2019. The subject of several rewrites, it was first workshopped in serial form by The Know Theatre before being produced by a group of SCAD students at a public park in 2022. Browning directed this low budget production. The show was later optioned by the Indianapolis Fringe Festival, but never produced.
After graduating from SCAD, Browning moved to Chicago where he struck a partnership with local writer Kero C. Dylan: together they wrote the treatment for People Eater, a script that would eventually become Browning’s film debut and the first film produced under their Second-Hand Henry banner. Together, they also wrote the short film Varulv.
Browning worked in various theatre’s in Chicago as an assistant director, stage manager, and production assistant before returning to Savannah, GA. His directing style has been described as a “synergy between the actor and director,” always involving a large amount of actor input and improvisation in the rehearsal space. Browning typically inserts surrealist or absurd imagery into his plays and films - also drawing from 70s horror films and punk. He has cited David Lynch, Sarah Kane, and Ingmar Bergman as major influences.
He is currently based in Savannah.
