Draft:TransRegional
TransRegional is the brand name for local bus services in regional towns and cities in Western Australia. TransRegional is managed by the Public Transport Authority and operated by various private contractors. The towns which have TransRegional bus services are Albany, Bridgetown, Broome, Bunbury, Busselton, Carnarvon, Collie, Esperance, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Karratha/Roebourne, Kununurra, Manjimup, Narrogin, Port Hedland, and Waroona/Pinjarra.
History
[edit]In November 2015, a trial for TransGoldfields bus routes between Kalgoorlie and Kambalda and Coolgardie began. The trial was successful and so the bus routes were made permanent.[1]
In July 2022, TransEsperance was launched for the town of Esperance for a twelve-month trial, with three bus routes and support from the Shire of Esperance.[2][3][4] The trial was extended for a further twelve months in 2023,[5] and in July 2024, TransEsperance was made permanent following the trial's success.[6][7]
The Waroona–Pinjarra–Mandurah Shopper bus route increased on 21 November 2023 to a twice weekly service following the temporary shutdown of the Australind train service. Before that, it ran once a week on Thursdays.[8][9]
