In late January 2023, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Phoebe Waller-Bridge was developing a Tomb Raider television series for Amazon Prime Video.[1] Megan McDonnell was hired to write the series.[2] It was officially greenlit in May 2024 and will be produced by Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios. Waller-Bridge will write the series and serve as an executive producer alongside Jenny Robbins through Wells Street Productions. Other executive producers include Dmitri M. Johnson through dj2 Entertainment, as well as Michael Scheel and Legendary Television.[3] By late October, Sophie Turner and Lucy Boynton were in the running for the role of Lara Croft.[4] By next month, Turner was in talks to play Croft.[5]

Principal photography is scheduled to begin in early 2025.[6]
