Tim Mollen (born May 4 1969 in Binghampton, New York, USA) and he is an American actor known for Coldplay: Champion of the World and I Believe in Santa.[1] His nationally syndicated humor column, Lost Journal, appeared in 300+ newspapers, and websites and is collected in a 3-book series.[2]

Early Life

Tim Mollen is the youngest of six Irish-Catholic boys from Binghampton, New York. He began acting at age five when he wrote, directed, and starred as Groucho Marx in a play at his elementary school. After performing in lead roles in high school plays and musicals, Mollen attended the State University of New York at Oswego. He graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and Communications Studies, and spent a semester in London, where he studied Shakespeare and British broadcasting.[3] In his senior year, he founded an improv comedy troupe, The Shaun Cassidy Fan Club, that became a campus institution, running for more than 30 years.[4] After college, Mollen moved to Chicago to study with the Second City Improv Conservatory.

Career

Tim Mollen appeared in the music video Coldplay: Champion of the World[5] Mollen appeared in the music video The Record Company: How High.[6]

After 25 years as a freelance marketing and technical writer, stage actor, and stage director, Mollen moved to Los Angeles in 2018 to pursue a career in film and TV acting. He is known for the Coldplay music video Champion of the World (2020), in which he played lead singer Chris Martin's father,[7] I Believe in Santa (2022), which stars John Ducey, Christina Moore, Violet McGraw, and Missi Pyle,[8] and several true crime documentaries on the Investigation Discovery Channel. He also appeared in lead roles in commercials.[9] One of Mollen's roles was playing an Old West prospector in the short film Under Refurbishment.[10]

Under Refurbishment was selected to be shown at the San Diego International Film Festival, Dances with Films (Los Angeles), KCET Fine Cut Festival of Films, and the Highland Park International Film Festival.[11] Mollen has been cast in commercials such as The Supercut commercial,[12] the UncloggerMan advertisement,[13] and The Little Things commercial.[14]
