The Work and the Glory is a series of Historical fiction Christian literature period drama novels written by American author, Gerald N. Lund. The novels center around a fictional family named the Steeds, and the events of their lives as pioneers and early members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

[edit]In the preface to Volume 9, Lund stated that he will begin work on a sequel novel which will detail the events of the descendants of the Steed family, in present day. By June 2009 however, the author stated that he will no longer be writing a tenth installment in the series. Despite this, he stated that he views his Fire of the Covenant and The Undaunted novels as sequels to The Work and the Glory, with each series set within the same continuity.[1]
