The Persistent is an American Internet-based media company based in New York, NY, founded by Francesca Donner[1]. The Persistent newsletter was first published in April of 2024, with both free and paid subscription tiers.
Mission
[edit]The Persistent is a women-focused media company, working with journalists and illustrators to amplify women's voices, stories, perspectives and ideas. The Persistent, which is delivered twice-weekly as a newsletter, examines politics, economics, business, art and culture through a gender lens.
The Persistent is one answer to the vast and complex work that remains to be done to elevate women in the world at large. It will persist as long as it takes for women to be heard, seen, and valued.
History
[edit]The Persistent was launched in 2024 by Francesca Donner, formerly of The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. She is the founder, editor and CEO.
Prior to launching The Persistent, Francesca was editor of 'In Her Words'[2]—a newsletter centered on women with a large subscriber base. Francesca has built her journalistic career focusing on women and gender issues.
