Hang Gliding: The New Freedom was the first documentary film made and distributed on the sport of hang gliding. It was made in 1973 by producer/director, Ron Underwood, and was distributed by Oxford Films (later called Paramount Communications), a short film subsidiary of Paramount Pictures. The film was made in 1973 and copyrighted under the name of "The New Freedom", and it was picked up for distribution in 1974 by Oxford Films and the title was changed to "Hang Gliding - The New Freedom".
