Submission declined on 28 October 2024 by Tesleemah (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of films). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. The proposed article does not have sufficient content to require an article of its own, but it could be merged into the existing article at Manufaktura. The Man from Manufaktura - a two-act opera about the history of multicultural Łódź. The main character of the opera is the Łódź factory owner Izrael Kalmanowicz Poznański, however the opera also contains motifs from the history of Łódź and the place of the turbulent events: the workers' strike against the factory owners in 1892, the liquidation of the Poltex factory in 1991 and the vision of the future of Manufaktura as a shopping and entertainment complex in Łódź...[1]
History of creation
[edit]The initiative to organise a competition to compose an opera about the city of Łódź was by the then director of the Grand Theatre, Łódź, Paweł Gabara[2][3] The idea of using Manufaktura factory and its owner Poznanski came from Krzysztof Korwin-Piotrowski, who then organised and coordinated The Man from Manufaktura opera competition. A libretto was commissioned from playwright Małgorzata Sikorska-Miszczuk. The appointed chairman of the jury was the composer and conductor Prof. Krzysztof Penderecki. Forty composers from Poland, Spain, Iran, the USA and Italy entered the four-stage competition. On 10 October 2017, on the stage of Grand Theatre, Łódź, the results of the international competition for the opera The Man from Manufaktura were announced. By the decision of the jury, the Grand Prix and PLN 45,000 went to Rafał Janiak[4][5] - young composer and conductor from Warsaw. Audience also voted during the final concert at the Grand Theatre, Łódź, and the Opera Audience Award also went to Rafał Janiak.

[edit]Manufaktura is a recognisable and frequented place. A place of entertainment, commerce and culture, combining the past with the present, one of the most talked about shopping and event centre.
Rafal Janiak's opera The Man from Manufaktura came to life at the Manufaktura Market Square in Łódź on 18 May 2019, more than three months after the world premiere on the stage of the Grand Theatre, Łódź. As in the world premiere performance at the Grand Theatre, Łódź, Rafał Janiak became the musical director of the venture and Waldemar Zawodziński was entrusted with the direction. The difficult history of the former factory and the evenings colourful lighting of the contemporary Manufaktura created the atmosphere during the performance[9] The world's first opera about the history of the city was presented to the general public at the Manufaktura Market Square, in the heart of the former empire of Israel Poznanski, who is the operas’ title character.
