The Idol Band (Korean: 더 아이돌 밴드; RR: Deo Aidol Baendeu; stylised in all caps) is a South Korean band survival reality show organised by FNC Entertainment.

The two masters were joined to this program for the first round, semifinal, and the final round. They are Han Seong-ho (founder and chairman of FNC Entertainment) and Sharam Q's Hatake.[2]

Procedure
  • Each producer(s) can cast by pressing the choice button while the contestant sings and plays. However, producer(s) must make their choice before the performance ends. If multiple producers select a contestant, the choice remains with him.
  • For one-on-one instrument battle, each contestant plays a song of his choice, then he does the freestyle performance. Producer(s) can only select one of both contestants.
  • The contestant selected by the producer will join the first tier producer camp, and will be managed and made by the top 1% in the next round. Contestants who haven't been selected must prepare for the next round on their own by joining the second tier pre-camp.

Round 1: My Song

Episodes 4–5 were aired on January 4 and 11, 2023.

Rules
  • Contestants classified as tiers 1 and 2 form teams to form their own bands and compete in rounds.
  • In the round-by-round contest, the producers' highest and lowest scores are subtracted and the remaining total points are divided into ranks from first to second.
  • The band that placed first advances to the next round with all band members from the previous round without disbanding the team.
    • If the tier-1 band wins first place, the producer of the band can select one of the eliminated bands with Super Pass to survive to the next round.
    • If the first place is a tier-2 band, that band has the right to select a producer.
    • If even the tier-1 band fails to win first place, all tier-1 bands from the previous round will be disbanded and the producers will decide. A new first-team band member is selected through a draft method. However, band members selected in the previous round may not be nominated again.

Round 2: K-pop One-on-one Battle

Episodes 6–7 were aired on January 18 and 25, 2023. Some of the idols came to this round, i.e. CSR, Lapillus, Purple Kiss, Drippin, P1Harmony, TO1, and Cherry Bullet.

Rules
  • The 5 tier-1 teams and 5 tier-2 teams that passed from Round 1 will have an one-on-one battle through nominations between each other. Each producers and idols vote one of both teams after they perform.
  • The team that won the battle goes to tier 1 in the next round, and the losing team goes to the tier 2 and is eliminated.
  • The winning team determines the first place, and the losing team determines the ranking by dividing the ranking evaluation into two groups to determine the two eliminated teams.
  • After the round ranking is decided, the producer of the losing tier-1 team will add up to 5 new band members to the winning tier-1 team except for the first-ranked team. Producers can leave 1-2 members from the existing team and re-appoint 3-4 members or replace all band members.
  • The rest of the rules are the same as in Round 1.

Round 3: Legend Band

Episodes 8–9 were aired on February 1 and 8, 2023. This round was attended by a limited number of spectators in person.

Rules
  • The first match of this round started with the one-on-one method. Once a winner is determined, the winning band is determined to be the winner, and in the battle-royal method, subsequent bands come out one-by-one and compete as challengers to win first rank through the decisions and evaluations of the producers and audiences.
    • For example, if the band that won the first match wins all the challenger bands, it is automatically confirmed as first rank.
    • If the challenger bands win over the former winner's band, the challenger's band will go up to the winner's seat.
  • The rest of the rules are the same as the previous round.

Rules
  • The 7 teams from Round 3 will decide which team will advance to the final round with the points obtained through the contest according to the designated order.
  • After each team's performance, scores are tallied out of 100 points, and the ranking is determined by the total score (500 points) excluding the highest and lowest points among the judges' scores.
  • The first-ranked team in this round will receive individual points as a final benefit.
  • No teams will be eliminated, but the producers choose some contestants to advance to the final round right after ranking announcement.
