From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Casbah is a bar, lounge, and music venue located on the King Street road of downtown Hamilton, Ontario.[1]

History

[edit]

Established December 31st, 2000,[2] The Casbah is one of Hamilton's most prominent music venues. The venue is available to be booked for events ranging from livestream production and private events to film production and performing arts events.[3] The Casbah is located nearby the historic Hess Village.

The building has a capacity of 350 people[4], and is split into two sections, a lounge, and a larger performance area with a stage. They share a space with local Lebanese restaurant chain, La Luna.

Over the years, The Casbah has hosted bands such as Alvvays,[5] Pixies,[6] and Crywank, as well as Hamilton-based bands such as Teenage Head, Arkells, and The Dirty Nil. The Casbah offers a space for independent bands and emerging artists to perform, and has been integral to the development of the music scene in Hamilton. Some emerging musical acts who have played at the venue include Superstar Crush, Wiener Kebab, and Bent Neck & The Joints.
