Tahar El Mesmoudi[1] (sometimes credited as Tahar Masmoudi due to transliteration from Arabic to Latin Alphabet) (07 April 1942 - 05 March 1994) was a Moroccan financier and politician.

Career
[edit]He first held the position of banker at the Crédit Agricole in Rabat, before being promoted to Director of Commerce[2] position in 1978, which he held until he was eventually nominated as Minister of Commerce and Industry[3][4] in 1985 during Mohammed Karim Lamrani's 4th tenure as Prime Minister of Morocco. He held that position until 1987,[5] after which he taught public finances at the Mohammed V University in Rabat until his untimely death in 1994.
