Svein Enersen (born 12 February 1968) is a Norwegian newspaper editor and retired football defender.
Enersen played youth football for Nærbø IL and a short time for Bryne FK before joining Viking FK.
He played for Viking FK in the Norwegian First Division (highest tier) of 1985 and 1986. During that time he also played twice for Norway U-17, four times for Norway U-20 and once for Norway U-21.[1] After Enersen was not given the opportunity to continue in Viking, he became a journeyman and spent some time in the lower leagues for FK Vidar, Stord IL, Nærbø IL, Moss FK and Bryne FK.
Enersen joined Stord IL in 1990. According to Enersen, the spell in Stord "was as big as a failure can get. What I experienced in that club, I wouldn't wish upon my greatest enemy". The main issue was that the amateur club would help Enersen enrol at the local college (what later became Stord/Haugesund University College). The teaching actually took place in Haugesund, not Stord, which caused Enersen to give up and move back to Stavanger. He would commute to Stord to play only during the weekends. (Molde, Djerv 1919, Sunndal) In 1991 he left Western Norway for the first time and signed for Moss FK, residing at Jeløya for the time being. The connection to Moss came about as Enersen's manager in Vidar, Mike Speight, had managed Moss as well. [2][3] Enersen later complained about the same thing happening in Moss; he had to attend a school in Halden.[4]
team captain In September 1991, Enersen was announced as a new Bryne player from 1992. His role as a journeyman had given him a bit of a frayed reputation, Bryne FK, but the managing director stated: "We have commissioned an assessment from Kjell Schou Andreassen, who thinks that we would be mad, had we not signed a contract with Svein Enersen if he wants to join Bryne".[5]
In the winter of 1993–94, there were talks about Enersen rejoining Viking, even among some players in Viking, but the board did not want Enersen.[6]
He returned to the highest tier again in 1994, when he played 21 out of 22 league games for Kongsvinger IL.[7]
Glåmdalen heled Enersen as the third best Kongsvinger player in 1994.[8]
Starting a second spell in Bryne in 1995, he served as captain of that team.[9] He played for IK Start in 1996 and Bryne again in 1997.[1]
Post-football career
[edit]After retiring he worked as a sports journalist in Fædrelandsvennen
In the spring of 2010 he briefly worked as a tourism coordinator in Setesdal, but regretted and gave notice to leave after one month.[10]
before becoming editor-in-chief of Lindesnes Avis. In late 2013 he announced his job change, becoming communications adviser in Agder Police District.[11]
