The Sustainable Development Council (SDC) is an international organization focused on advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through youth empowerment, human rights advocacy, environmental sustainability, and social justice. SDC holds special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) from the year 2021[1], enabling it to contribute to high-level discussions on global development issues and advocate for inclusive, sustainable policies.[2][3][4][5]

A Sustainably developed World for all, To realize a sustainably developed world that leaves no one behind, ensuring equitable access to prosperity, protection of our planet’s resources, and a harmonious coexistence of people from all walks of life. The Sustainable Development Council is dedicated to fostering a global environment where the principles of sustainability guide our actions and decisions. Our mission is to create a world that not only meets the needs of the present but also preserves the ability of future generations to thrive.

The Sustainable Development Council envisions a world where nations unite in a shared commitment to foster a globally sustainable future. Our approach is rooted in inclusivity and guided by holistic principles that seamlessly harmonize environmental, social, and economic well-being. We believe that sustainable development is not merely a goal but a continuous journey, and by working together, we can propel nations toward a future that is both prosperous and environmentally responsible.

Key Initiatives and Programs

The Fourth Edition of the International Youth Forum’s final segment featured the Adoption of the IYF 4.0 Resolutions, chaired by Dr. Datchanamoorthy Ramu at the United Nations Conference Centre, Bangkok.

International Youth Forum on SDGs and Human Rights (IYF): SDC’s flagship event, the IYF convenes youth leaders, diplomats, and advocates worldwide to address global issues, particularly around sustainable development and human rights. The IYF has become a platform for youth-led solutions and international collaboration.[6][7][8] As a global platform dedicated to empowering young leaders, fostering dialogue, and promoting sustainable development through the active involvement of youth. Founded in 2017, the forum brings together youth advocates, policymakers, and experts from around the world to discuss pressing global issues, share innovative solutions, and drive actionable change. The IYF focuses on key areas such as Human Rights, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), gender equality, climate action, and social justice. It aims to provide young people with the knowledge, resources, and networks needed to make a tangible impact in their communities and globally.

In the United States, an organization also named Sustainable Development Council was created in 1993 under the Clinton administration.[9]
